Mushroom Compost

is a by-product from Ostrom’s Mushroom Farm in Lacey, Washington. It consists of 60% wheatstraw, 25% poultry litter, 10% gypsum, and 5% dried urea, which are combined and composted. Mushrooms are grown in the material and then picked. The spent compost is then sterilized and sold as a soil conditioner. This compost is generally tilled into existing soil and used in vegetable gardens and flower beds.

Great Western Mulch

is our exclusive composted manure and dark bark. It is perfect for water retention and to aerate soil. This product works effectively in clay soils.

Silver Springs Organics Compost

Composting is a natural process that converts organic waste into a stable, nutrient-rich organic soil amendment. Silver Springs Organics Compost meets STA and WSDOT testing criteria. Rich in organic matter and soil nutrients, Silver Springs Organics Compost increases water holding capacity of soil while aiding in weed suppression.

Groco

is a composted mixture of 95% sawdust and 5% biosolids. The biosolids are a by-product of King County’s wastewater treatment plant in Seattle. The high composting temperature in effect, pasteurizes the Groco, leaving it virtually odorless and free from imported weeds. Groco is a superb organic soil conditioner for landscaping, but is not recommended for vegetable gardens. To apply, first loosen the existing soil, next spread Groco 1” to 3” deep on the area to be planted, finally till or spade the Groco into the soil. Groco is also an excellent alternative to beauty bark as mulch that will help retain moisture and add beauty to the landscape. It will leach nutrients into the soil below to help your plants grow. To apply as mulch, spread it 1” to 2” deep. As with any mulch, application around the base of shrubs should be thinner.

Manure

We also have screened cow manure, which is provided to us from a local dairy. The manure is moved through the dairy with water to a manure separator where the solids and liquids are separated. Cow manure is always a great natural fertilizer when tilled into soil.
